Buffie was an avid golfer and we were lucky enough to be gifted her beloved ruby red golf cart, which I have lovingly named "Ruby." We didn't know that we were going to be the lucky recipients of Ruby. Kim and Eric decided to surprise us with it by driving down with it last week. Little did they know, as they drove in to town, their son stood from his 6th floor office building and just happened to see them drive by with Ruby in tow, kind of ruining their surprise but sure making for a good laugh. Anyway, we know how much Buffie loved this golf cart and we intend to love her just the same. This is a picture of our first round in Ruby. Despite a pretty dismal performance by me, I did make my first par ever! Golf was a part of Buffie's every day life and now Buffie gets to be part of our every round of golf.

Usain Bella
We had the Johnsons come and visit us
this weekend and it was a fabulous weekend. They brought us a wonderful
surprise that I will have to write about next weekend. Stay tuned.
We had a great weekend full of college football (I love this time of
year!), lunch with Chris' aunt and uncle, a date for four at the driving
range, and a great dinner out in our beloved city. My plan to convince
Kim and Eric to move to Boise has not quite come to fruition, but it
was great to have them here for a weekend. Thanks for making the trip
down here guys!
Then we took Bella to one end and took her favorite green
squishy ball away from her. When she was unleashed she put her dad's
time to shame and ran the distance in 8.7 seconds beating Usain Bolt's
record by at least one second. So for the record, Chris cannot run as
fast as Bella and neither can the world record holder. Go Bella! Have
fun with those hair cuts, Chris!
At least Chris was a good sport. |

Fish Tales
If you know me well, you probably know that I like to fish. If you know Chris well, you probably know that he loves to fish. Because I know it makes him really happy and it makes me pretty happy, we spent our first weekend home in what has felt like months by driving to the South Fork of the Boise River for a day of fishing. Chris landed a little dude and I hooked a huge fish. I get so excited whenever I hook a fish flyfishing. I usually shout for Chris and ask him what to do and he tries to get upstream to me as fast as he can. I know what to do when there is no fish on my line, but whenever I get one, excitement takes over and I just shout "what do I do now?!?!" Well, I reeled and reeled the fish being careful to keep my line tight, but not too tight as advised by Chris... and then it happened, he jumped out in the air (and showed me he was huge) and got enough slack to get off my hook and swim happily away. I was left on the shore not feeling so happy. One day I will become a sophisticated fisherwoman who doesn't have to yell for Chris every time I catch something, but for now I will take pleasure in a day out on the river with my man. Sure, a fish would have made it a little better, but it was still a pretty darn good day.

Perfect End to the Summer
For me a perfect summer day is defined by enjoying a book, a beer and maybe a nap or two on the dock at Priest Lake. Lucky for me that is just what we got to do Labor Day weekend. We've been traveling around quite a bit, and although we traveled to Priest as well, the weekend was more of a refresh and revive kind of weekend than anything else. Over the past nine years as I have come to know Priest Lake, I think that it has moved to the top of the list of my favorite places. Time just slows down at Priest. Nobody wears a watch, nobody cares if you have oatmeal cookies with breakfast, and you are lucky if you stay awake past 9:30. It is a time to catch up on sleep and good conversations and I don't think that I love any place more.
Chris amazed me once again with his skiing. He is just so fun to watch and made me think that this was year that I should try to get up on one ski. "Try" is the right word because it did not result in success much to my dismay. Oh well, there is always next year. The pictures of me in the lake attempting to ski are not quite as cool as Chris showing off his skills.
And we also had an awesome time with Chris' parents who are always so gracious when we are up there. Kim never lets a day at Priest go without snacks that could feed a small village. Thanks so much for having us up. It was wonderful, as always!
Until next year Priest...
