Sawtooth Relay 2014

Last year was the first year that either Chris or I ran the Sawtooth Relay.   The experience was amazing and we couldn't wait to do it again.  This time we decided to reassemble much of our Hood to Coast relay team to experience Idaho's own special (and less extreme) race. This time Doug joined Elizabeth and Becko was able to work her busy summer schedule to come up for a little self torture too.  Chris, Bob, Lynsey, Elizabeth and I rounded out the rest of the team.  Although I didn't run with the team, I like to credit myself with their success because my volunteer instructions made it very clear that if I didn't show up promptly at my post on time, my team would be disqualified.   You guys can thank me later for your amazing finish, 66th overall, 13th in coed category with an official time of 9 hours 2 minutes. Congrats guys on a fantastic race!

Love these guys.

I finished my volunteer assignment at the ninth exchange and then drove up to see if I could watch Chris finish Galena (God's worst hill to run up). With no cell service I was impressed that I could find the group with ease. I came honking up an overlook to find this good looking group enjoying some of Idaho's best views. I found them near the top of Galena and got to see Chris accomplish this amazing feat for the second time!  I then stayed with them for a couple of legs cheering them on.

Handing off to Doug at the top of Galena.

The team meeting Chris to run across the finish line together.

I was slightly jealous of the team all getting to experience this together, but it also felt good to be able to walk the next day. I also was able to meet up with the two teams assembled by my work.  So all in all, I quite enjoyed being able to drag my pregnant butt around as I pleased and partake in some of the festivities.

Here I am at exchange 9.  It was not warm.

It was so fun to have some of our closest friends up here to share this experience with.  It was also fun to share one of my most favorite places in Idaho with the group. A special thanks to our out of town racers for making the trek here and then trekking through the Sawtooths. You guys are the best!

*** Yes, I am backblogged again.... watch out because there are multiple summer updates are forthcoming!
