Strawberry Fields

This weekend we went apple stawberry picking with the Whitfields.  Who knew that this year was a very late and bad apple year due to the hot weather?!?!?  Obviously not this girl who dragged her husband rather unwillingly to go start the autumn season out right with a little apple harvest. Thank goodness we found an alternative when we arrived in Emmett and it just happened to be an alternative that my husband loved! Who knew that they still had strawberries available for picking in the last week of September?!?!? As unexpected adventures do sometimes, the strawberry picking turned out even better than the planned apple picking.  The kids could all crouch down and find the strawberries and Chris enjoyed "the hunt" much more than the easy pickins of the apple harvest.  I think we'll add this one to the list of summer activities for next year and make a tradition of going out every couple of weeks.

I just love these boys in their hoodies.

Grady picked up on the whole concept way better than I could have imagined.  I was impressed by his ability to actually find and pick stawberries.

Best buds.

He was really into it and ended up with a sticky, dirty, strawberry juice face to prove it.   For every one that made it into the box from him, another two made it into his mouth.

Look at this cutie.  Sophie kept telling me that "maybe we could make strawberry cupcakes for my birthday."

Sometimes he'd pick and eat the occasional unripe strawberry too.   He is just a little observer.  I don't know how else to put it.  It is as if he is always trying to figure out how the world works, why is this one is red and that one is white?  I love watching him do new things.

Cousin and sibling love.  These three are the cutest.

More sibling love and our $5 bucks worth of strawberries.

Till next year strawberry patch!
